USask's inaugural Asian Heritage Month celebration in May 2024.

May 16 - Riceboy Sleeps Film Screening and Conversation, Quance Theatre, College of Education, 5:30-8:30pm (Doors open at 5pm)

This Korean-Canadian film by Anthony Shim is a critically-acclaimed TIFF winner and also won Best Original Screenplay at

the Canadian Screen Awards. The story is about a Korean single mom moving to Canada with her son in 1990s and there’s some theme

regarding racism experienced at school by teachers/students so there’s a connection to Canadian educational system. The storyline will

resonate with many immigrant families and local residents from parents/children/teachers/students perspectives.
