The Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan invites creative, passionate, friendly,
enthusiastic individuals interested in a unique work opportunity to apply to join our English
Language Training team. The UCC Saskatchewan English for Employment program focuses on
helping adult newcomer clients adjust to the Canadian work environment while improving their
English language capacity. E4E instructors deliver learner-focused, module-based, interactive
English language instruction in-person. Instructors are guided by the Saskatchewan Workplace
English Language Curriculum (WELC). They must be able to relate to participant needs and orient
classroom activities to meet those needs. This contract-based position may involve daytime,
evening and/or weekend work, as required.
JOB DUTIES
1. Developing and teaching creative, innovative, content-based, employment-related and effective English
as an Additional Language lessons, based on the Saskatchewan Workplace English Language
Curriculum (WELC) which utilize a variety of instructional techniques, methods and materials,
2. Providing a welcoming, inclusive, interactive, and professional learning environment,
3. Assisting Adult learners to develop individualized action plans to acquire necessary language skills and
employment strategies to successfully function in the Saskatchewan labour market,
4. Assisting Adult learners to identify and develop their strengths, skills, interests, values, transferable
skills, in order to connect them to suitable career choices,
5. Monitoring/evaluating learner progress while providing on-going feedback on areas for improvement,
6. Maintaining on-going communication with the UCC Saskatchewan English Language Training
Coordinator ensuring that they are kept apprised of each class’s progress, and
7. Keeping and submitting accurate and complete learner records, including daily attendance reports and, at
the end of each course, an update on the language skills improvement based on progress of students
against Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) scores, a report on student learning outcome
achievement as per program requirements.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Education: The English for Employment Instructor should hold a post-secondary degree in one of the
following areas: Education, English Language Arts, Adult Education or other relevant training.
Additionally, EAL Certification such as TESL/CERTESL or ESL/EAL teaching experience delivering
classes in-person is required.
Note: Fluency in additional languages is considered an asset.
Internationally trained candidates require a CLB 8 or IELTS 6.5 level of English.
Knowledge: The candidate should have proficient knowledge/experience in the following areas:
→ adult language acquisition and appropriate adult learner teaching methodologies,
→ Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB),
→ Job search preparation and requirements,
→ employee rights and responsibilities in the Canadian workplace,
→ current trends and challenges in the provincial labour market, and
→ a contemporary appreciation of equity, interculturalism/multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, anti-
racism, Indigenous culture, human rights, language rights and cultural retention.
Skills: The candidate will have the following skills:
→ a creative, interactive and innovative approach to teaching with an ability to engage learners with a
wide range of learning styles and needs,
→ regular engagement of information technology in the classroom (iPads, laptops, electronic
whiteboards, etc.) in the classroom,
→ excellent verbal, listening, and written communication in English,
→ attention to detail and accuracy with a strong level of organization,
→ excellent skills in monitoring and evaluation of learner progress,
→ effective interpersonal skills,
→ adhere to UCC Saskatchewan privacy and confidentiality policies,
→ digital literacy as well as experience with MS Teams and Zoom.

Eligibility
Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or otherwise legally entitled to work in
Canada. They must currently reside in the province of Saskatchewan and be prepared to work in-person.
