To provide leadership and support for the Language and Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) departments at the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council for the purpose of ensuring high quality teaching and learning for the English Language program.

The Language Program Manager will support language instructors and CNC staff, liaise with other related organizations and businesses, ensure that PBLA methodology is being delivered, provide resources and professional development for the advancement of digital learning opportunities. The program manager will also collaborate with other settlement departments to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and information between staff and students.

The Language Program Manager directly reports to the Executive Director and works alongside the Management Team to ensure quality and seamless service for clients.

Qualifications


Qualifications/Skills/Abilities


Previous experience teaching in a LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) program
Certified in LearnIT2Teach Stage 3 and attained or working on Stage 4
Demonstrated managerial or leadership experience; preferably in an adult education setting
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with PBLA (portfolio-based language assessment)
Demonstrated knowledge of PLAR (prior learning and recognition)
TESL Certification or ability to immediately obtain one
Knowledge of leadership and management principles and practices as they relate to non-profit organizations
Ability to make informed objective decisions
Working knowledge of regulations such as: labour standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, privacy and confidentiality
Working knowledge of human resources, financial management, and project management
Excellent organizational skills
A clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector mandatory
