Symposium on Multiculturalism in Canada

Free Event
Dear TESL colleagues,
Please note the upcoming Symposium on Multiculturalism, which is being held in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination AND the 50th Anniversary of the Multicultural Act in Canada. This FREE online event taking place on March 22-23 will bring together diverse voices from across the country to engage in a Canadian conversation and contribute to the driving questions of the Symposium:
  1. How can we shape a more inclusive future for Canadians?
  2. What are the national and provincial multicultural and educational policies and practices that have arisen, fallen and/or endured since the announcement of Multiculturalism in 1971, what can we learn from them and how might they contribute to the next 50 years?
  3. How can these policies and practices support official bilingualism and the Indigenous Languages Act, the TRC Calls to Action, equity, diversity, and inclusion?
  4. Does multiculturalism have a future role in Canadian education?
The symposium website is: https://mcsymposium.wixsite.com/mar22-23
Please share this information widely as the topic impacts federal support for languages, cultures, identity, and diversity in Canada.
Regards,
Nadia
